MFC/MBE 2010 Analysis & Answer Key

The total number of  questions was 200 while the time  given  was 120 minutes. The marking system was 1 for a correct answer and -0.25 for an incorrect answer. There  was no sectional  breakup, which just  gives  an indication  that this  exam might  consider  the overall  cut-offs and not sectional cut-offs.  There  were 4 series  of   papers namely  11,  12,  13  and  14.  The paper  was  of   higher difficulty level  as compared to last  year  which may lead  to lower cut-offs this  year. There  were a few printing errors.  The drill-down of the paper  is given in the table  below.

English was a tough  section  to attempt. The real tough subsections  were the Vocabulary  related Section.  The  Grammar  questions  were  surprisingly  easy.  The  Reading  Comprehension  section dealing  with “Feminine aspects related  to Literacy”  had  all the  inferential  questions.  There  was a set of   4 questions  which  required  substitution  of   words  with  letters,  which  should  have  been attempted. The Sentence  Correction questions were quite confusing in terms  of  options given. The minimum correct attempts in this  section  could have  been  21+, with a possible  time  allocation of 30 minutes.

Since the exam itself was Economics and Finance oriented, hence the questions  on GK were heavily inclined towards  Economics.  The questions  ranged from general  theories  of  Economics and Finance to all the current  developments in that  field. Most of  the aspirants would have found the questions doable, if they had gone through our Business  Awareness  Funda book. The questions  on Current GK  were mainly  from Politics. The minimum correct attempts in this section could have been 28+, with a possible time allocation of 15 minutes.

There were 1-2 ambiguous questions and should be left. The Logical  Reasoning  caselets  (5 of  them) were of  varying  difficulty level  and should  be attempted in the light  of  the options  given.  There  were at least  3 easy caselets  which should  be attempted. The questions on Data Sufficiency required basic knowledge of  elementary Math and should have been attempted first.  The minimum correct attempts  in this  section  could have  been  30+, with a possible time allocation of 35 minutes.
