JMET 2010 NOTIFICATION

The  notification  for  JMET   conducted  by  the  IITs,  for students  seeking  admission  into  the management   programs  for  the  year  2011-2013  is  released   with   following  details.   The programme is conducted  at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT  Kanpur,  IIT  Kharagpur,  IIT Madras,  and IIT  Roorkee.

DATE OF TEST:

12th December, 2010 (Sunday) (10:00 am to 1:00 pm)

DETAILS OF THE TEST

The test  consists  of  multiple  choice  questions  of  3 hours duration  and  is aimed  to test the applicant's ability in Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Verbal Communication and Logical Reasoning. JMET  will  be conducted  all over India. The test  centres  for JMET  can be viewed at http://web.iitd.ac.in/~gate/jmet/exam_cities/exam_cities.html.

The first choice of test city opted by the candidate  in JMET 2011 application form will appear on the admit card. A request for change of test city may be  considered  only if  a request letter stating  the reasons for the change along  with a demand  draft  of  Rs.400/-  per change reaches the Chairman, GATE, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Hauz  Khas, New Delhi 110016 on or before 29^th October 2010. The demand draft  should be in favour of Chairman, GATE,  IIT Delhi payable  at New Delhi. No  center change request will  be entertained  after  29th October 2010.

ELIGIBILITY

Each IIT  has its own set of eligibility criteria. The essential eligibility conditions common to all the IITs are enumerated below.

• B.E/B.Tech or first class Master’s  degree (as given by the Institute/University) with 60% marks in aggregate (all  years/semesters put together) or minimum CGPI of  6.5 out of 10. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPI for SC/ST candidates. For some IITs, a Master’s degree in Science or equivalent in any discipline with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University is eligible to apply.
• Final year students awaiting results can also apply.

HOW TO APPLY

• JMET 2011 Application  Form has to be submitted  ONLINE  only.  The application  fee is  Rs.350/-  for  SC/ST/PD  candidates  and  Rs.  750/-  for  all other candidates. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the JMET 2011 website of any of the IITs.
• Fill up the ONLINE application  form which includes  the uploading of your photo, signature  and category certificate (if applicable). The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. The application fee is non-refundable.
• The fee payment can be done by a) Core Banking  b) Credit/Debit Card. Details regarding these methods are available at http://web.iitd.ac.in/~gate/jmet/how_to_apply/how_to_apply.html.
• If  you have submitted  the ONLINE  application  successfully, including your photo, signature  and category certificate  (where applicable),  then  you do not need  to send  anything   by  post.   If   photo,  signature   and  category  certificate   (where applicable) are not uploaded correctly, then take a printout of  the PDF  application form. Paste a good quality  passport size  photograph at the appropriate  place  and sign  the application  form at the specified  place.  Send the application  form along with a self  attested  copy of  the category certificate  (where applicable)  by speed post so as to reach "The Chairman,  GATE,  IIT  Delhi, Hauz Khas,  New Delhi 110016" on or before October 15, 2010. Applications  received  after  this  date will be rejected without further  intimation.
